Hello my lovely readers. It has been quite some time since I updated this thing, and as usual I am planning on actually updating this more often. I will make a post about health/life stuff etc another day. However... today I am going to write my review of Dragworld 2019!
So the past three years now, Dragworld, a convention celebrating all things drag, lgbtq, makeup, food, perfomances etc etc has been running. I have been to this since the very beginning, and it is amazing to see just how much it has grown, and how popular it is becoming. Every year something new, something improved, something for everyone.
So this year, we decided to head down on the Friday, and stay at a friend's house to save costs. We booked a hotel last year, and it was small and a little bit inconvenient as we couldn't make food, and had to figure out what to do with our stuff on the Sunday.
This year, made a little more sense. So after work we met up with one of my darling friends (@Khinjarsi on twitter, uponcompletion.wordpress.com) and headed down to London. It was a good trip down, and we managed to get to our mutual friend's nearest station. Collected pizzas and headed back to her flat. We spent the evening catching up, introducing Khinjarsi to her, and then setting up ready for the following morning.
The morning arrived, and we got ready for Dragworld. My outfit idea was pastels, and with this added a pastel/neutral makeup look. I was the last one to be ready, as I wanted to make sure my makeup was done, and I had various layers on. We grabbed a taxi to the venue at Olympia.
Once we arrived at the venue there was a queue already waiting to be let in. This was the first queue before being let in. Then a queue for the actual show, was split into 2. I managed to bypass the original queue, just by asking the security guy what to do regarding the meet and greet in the morning. There was 2 queues. One for people with meet and greets at 10am, and those without. People were really confused at first, and mingling in both queues unsure where they were to stand, as information was misheard or mixed up.
Personally there was not much difference in the two queues, not much to separate them, and could have been made better with them being further apart than next to each other. Some signage would also been helpful, so people could understand which queue was for which, and the original queue outside I have no idea why that was there, as I ended up just walking straight past it, into the next set of queues.
Eventually we were let into the show, and I made my way straight to the Meet and Greet section of the show, as I had a ticket to meet Blair St Clair. The queuing for this was just like every other year, and was easy to navigate, and the security/scanning people were lovely people as always. It was about a 10 minute wait I believe for Blair, and she was such a sweetie!

I told her to keep doing what she loves, and to let the light keep shining from her heart (sappy I know) and she was a beautiful soul inside and out. I also asked when she would go back to vintage style drag, and she expressed this would be happening again soon. <3 Once we had taken our few selfies, and she signed my picture, I headed back to the entrance to look for the others. I sat at the stage and once they were inside we took a wander around.
There were many great stalls this year, some returners, and some new ones. I got some amazing items from the show this year, and will make sure to post about the loot another time. :) After a while we decided we would go get some food from Westfield, (which happened to be down the road about 20 mins walk) and grab some bits from the shopping centre, whilst waiting for the next meet and greet.
We went to Pizza Express (check out my review on TripAdvisor) and then after some downtime then headed back to the venue. Another 20 minute walk back, but the sun wasn't too harsh at that time.
The next person to meet was Laaaaatrice Royale! This was again my first time meeting her, and she was also a delight. She was just a larger than life person, and we got selfies with her, both alone, and one together with just two of us, and once this was done we then decided that that was it for the evening and headed back to Westfield to pick up Khinjarsi and TiniestSidekick from Starbucks. Once all sorted we headed back to the place we were staying, had dinner and chilled for a bit.

Unfortunately, Khinjarsi had to leave that evening, due to not feeling 100%, which was sad, however her mental health and physical health is more important than my own obsession with spending time with them and drag queens. :D
As this is a suuuuuuuper long post I will end this here.
The first day and travelling down was great. I loved the people I was with, got to spend some time both in the show, and out in London. Latrice and Blair were amazing to their fans, and everyone seemed extremely considerate. I liked the addition to the "Chill out zone" with their big pillows/beanies and it seemed very relaxed.
Def a 8/10 for this day and show! It keeps improving, so I don't want to score it too perfectly. Maybe one day when I finally meet some other queens I want to, and have a whole place with friends.
Thanks for reading! And I look forward to posting day 2!
